Course Summary:

This eight-hour instructional course is catered towards law enforcement and civilian personnel who are responsible for the evidence management function in their agencies. This course will discuss topics to include guidelines for evidence retention, identifying disposition dates, chain of custody documentation, evidence submission policies and best practices. Additionally, this course will discuss the responsibilities of the evidence custodian, identify the need and liability relating to evidence audits and accountability. This course will provide guidance on documenting the authorization for disposal and best practices of documenting the same. Additional topics covered in this course will include facility requirements, digital evidence submission and storage, forfeiture process relating to items seized as evidence.
