Basic ATV LEO Operator Course [Driving Session #3]

This two day course is recommended for any LEO who operates an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) in the course of their duties. A portion of this course will certify you on the ATV Rider Course through the ATV Safety Institute (ASI). LEO’s will be shown mounting/ dismounting techniques, patrol tactics, use of cover/ concealment, rescue/ equipment considerations and weapon manipulation/retention. Instruction will include being Rider-Active, starting, stopping, quick turns, hill riding, emergency stopping, swerving and riding over obstacles.
It is recommended that the LEO bring their agency ATV and related gear along with your duty gear.
(Simunition will be utilized during the training, we will provide weapons/ammo)
CLASSROOM: ALL trainees need to attend this portion on Tuesday November 12, 9am-3pm. You are registering on here for your driving session (2nd class day).
You will need to complete the e-course online, create an account and email Lt. Foltz (hfoltz@co.ocean.nj.us) a copy of your certificate PRIOR to attendance at the link below:

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT:
(Failure to bring these items will result in you not being able to take the class)
- Helmet- (DOT or SNELL approved) (must provide at least ¾ protection, covering the back of your head and ears)
- Goggles or face shield
- Over the ankle boots
- Long Sleeve Shirt – NO short sleeve shirts
- Pants – NO shorts
- Riding gloves
- Operational ATV (each operator will need their own ATV, the class is not setup for sharing an ATV. An inspection will be performed prior to start of class)
- Duty holster
- Body Armor

DRIVING PORTION: will be 4 hours and each operator will only need to attend one driving session.

- Session #3 (this session): November 14, 8am-12pm
- Session #4: November 14, 1pm-5pm
