Firearms Instructor Course (OC Depts. ONLY)

Limit 2 seats per department. Course is strictly limited.
The first day will be a pre-qualification followed by six (6) days that will be devoted to handgun and shotgun. This is a New Jersey Police Training Commission approved course which is designed to instruct department officers who will be assigned the task of instructing and certifying officers in the use and care of firearms. Instruction methodology, firearms policy, testing and operation of a firearms range will be reviewed. Officers will be required to furnish their duty weapon, shotgun, rifle and ammunition.
You must have a Basic Rifle Operator class prior to attending.
The officer must first fire a score of 96% (48) HQC II on the handgun, three (3) consecutive times (not an average), to qualify for this course.
Equipment requirements:
- Approved eye and ear protection,
- Baseball type cap,
- Cleaning equipment,
- 1000 rounds handgun,
- 50 rounds of trap/skeet loads,
- 25 rounds of OO buck and 25 rounds of slugs,
- 1000 rounds .556 (for rifle component),
- Duty pistol/approved holster,
- 12ga police shotgun with sling,
- AR-15 platform .556 patrol rifle with sling.
