DESCRIPTION:*This course is presented in-person or remote. \nThis 2-day course teaches various techniques to enable the officer to gain information and determine its accuracy of it during interview and interrogation processes. \nThis course covers the difference between interviews and interrogations\, preparing for and conducting professional\, structured criminal interviews and interrogations more effectively\, and the different styles and proven techniques most used. Skills taught will enable investigators to detect deception by analyzing verbal and non-verbal communication. \nOur highly experienced instructors teach how to: \n\nprepare the room for the interview\nbuilding rapport\ngathering data\ninterpret body language and gestures\ndefense mechanisms\nemotional responses\nusing theme development and transitional stories\ndetecting deception\ngiving Miranda application\, ensuring the admissibility of statements\, and constitutional requirements\npurpose of videoing and use of visual aids in statement taking\n\nStudents will participate in exercises with role players to practice the skills taught. \n \n

DESCRIPTION:*This course is presented in-person or remote. \nSexual assault is one of the most complicated crimes to investigate. \nIn the investigation and prosecution of most sexual assault cases\, the role of the victim is much more important than in other crimes since the victim is usually the sole witness to the crime. Unfortunately\, sexual assault victims are sometimes reluctant to cooperate with law enforcement because they fear the perpetrator will return to retaliate. It is therefore imperative that sexual assault investigators understand victim responses and utilize the appropriate interview skills necessary in these cases. Not all victims of sexual assault behave in the same manner\, so it is essential the investigator be informed\, of mental and physical reactions to sexual assault. DESCRIPTION:Below 100 is a national officer safety initiative that aims to reduce annual line of duty deaths to below 100\, a number not seen since 1943.  The United States has averaged over 150 officers killed per year in the last ten years. Together\, we can bring that number to below 100.  We have identified five key tenets by which we can improve officer safety and prevent unnecessary Line of Duty Deaths: Wear your seatbelt; Wear your vest; Watch your speed; WIN! – What’s Important Now?; and Complacency Kills!  These areas are where each law enforcement officer can make a difference.   This is one of the most important Officer Safety training programs offered to law enforcement today.  Below 100 isn’t just about statistics – It’s about each and every officer\, supervisor and leaders taking individual and collective responsibility for the decisions and actions that contribute to officer and public safety. \nINSTRUCTOR:        Corporal Geoffrey T.
