During the course\, the instructors will review the NEWEST Tactical Response Protocols and Guidelines and teach how to implement these lessons to your officers. The course teaches how to run a drill from planning meetings including stakeholders to running the drill and how to include and prepare the community. \nThe jam-packed day will also include: \n\nComplying with Federal and State Standards for Active Shooter Drills\nEvaluating your policies and updating them as necessary\nDocumenting the drill lesson plans and student attendance\nEvaluating your drills and making improvements\nCoordinating with schools and different agencies\nChoosing drill location and scenarios\nImplementing various levels of drills including coordinating with other emergency agencies\nActive shooter drills\n\nA segment will focus on school security to include evaluating school security\, working with school administration to address their concerns\, and developing plans for security updates. SUMMARY:MANDATED Resiliency Training for Law Enforcement Officers
DESCRIPTION:Maximum capacity for class is 30.   \nThis mandatory training is for Ocean County municipalities only.  \nThis course will be held at the Ocean County Prosecutors Office\, Turnbach Meeting Room located in the basement level of 119 Hooper Avenue\, Toms River. \n“The men and women in law enforcement put their lives on the line every day in the name of protecting and serving the citizens of New Jersey. Law enforcement officers are often the first to respond to a scene and frequently witness the most traumatic events that happen in their communities. The emotional and mental toll on the officer’s wellbeing can build up over time\, creating a stressful and unhealthy environment for the officer\, causing health- and social-related issues\, such as high blood pressure\, heart disease\, diabetes\, family and relationship stress\, and\, in some cases\, self-harm. Thus\, it is of the utmost importance that New Jersey’s law enforcement officers have the necessary tools to better cope with the unique stressors of their job. By providing officers with coping mechanisms to take care of their wellbeing\, we are helping them be resilient. \nResiliency is the ability to overcome adversity\, and the New Jersey Resiliency Program for Law Enforcement (NJRP-LE) is designed to do just that.  Equally important to protecting a law enforcement officer’s physical safety\, is protecting his or her mental health. It is time to create a positive culture for not only law enforcement officers\, but for their families\, friends\, and the larger New Jersey community”. \nGeneral Resiliency training for all sworn officers throughout the county is a two day training.  These trainings will be full days and it is expected that officers will be responsible for their own breakfast and lunches for those two days with the expectation that officers will remain in the classroom.  Once a class hits 25 students\, registration will be closed and you will have to register for an alternate date.

DESCRIPTION:This course trains law enforcement personnel on actions they can take to prevent\, deter and respond to terrorist acts. The law enforcement officer is part of the front line defense in preventing and deterring WMD terrorist incidents where the release of WMD agents is likely to occur because of criminal actions. The nature of law enforcement officers’ daily work environment provides them with an enhanced understanding of the community not shared by the public. This heightened community awareness provides law enforcement officers with a unique opportunity to prevent or deter potential WMD terrorist incidents. \nThis awareness level course focuses on the recognition\, prevention\, and deterrence of terrorist activity and crime-related high consequence events for law enforcement and other public safety professionals. When FTOs are properly trained\, they can help make sound personnel decisions and avoid future performance and legal issues. \nThe Penn State Justice and Safety Institute (JASI) is pleased to partner with our co-sponsor to offer this powerful three-day program\, which is designed to prepare officers for field-training responsibilities.
