SUMMARY:1st Responder Interactions With the The Special Needs Community
DESCRIPTION:Police Officers and other 1st Responders encounter people with physical\, emotional and/or cognitive disabilities\, like autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in the daily execution of their service.  This specialized training provides officers\, EMT’s and fire safety personnel tools and resources to effectively manage potentially difficult situations with these citizens. \n​During this training\, officers will learn and understand the common characteristics and behaviors often displayed by those with developmental disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Disorders. Included throughout the day principles\, tactics and techniques that will help 1st Responders deal with those with ASD\, mental retardation\, Down syndrome\, history of brain injuries\, emotional disorders\, situational anxiety\, or those experiencing psychological or physical trauma. \nThe course will review: \nSocialization difficulties and people with ASD including their often not understanding appropriate or safe responses\nDealing with someone exhibiting difficulty with expressive and receptive language and interpreting non-verbal cues\nBeing familiar with repetitive behaviors\, self-stimulatory movements\, organizing behaviors common with ASD\nRecognizing and responding to communication challenges\, such as lack of eye contact\, unusual tone of voice\, disassociated speech – seemingly meaningless answers\, delayed responses\, and unusual balance or gait\nThe Autism Directive Cycle (ADC) aka the Crisis Directive Cycle (CDC)\nOfficer Presence and nonverbal communication to those with cognitive developmental delays\nOfficer Safety\nMedical Precautions\nTechniques for responding to people with ASD and other intellectual and developmental disabilities \n            “People with developmental disabilities are at least 7 times more likely to attract the attention of the police\, because their  unique                                                communication styles and social characteristics may frighten or disturb some people” (Curry K\, Posluszny M.\,  Kraska S\, 1993). DESCRIPTION:Street Gang Recognition and Identification with an emphasis on MS-13.  Gang history\, tattoos\, hand signs\, colors\, codes\, graffiti and criminal activity are presented through the use of PowerPoint\, lecture and video presentation.  This course is designed to give a basic working knowledge of gangs and the basic ability to recognize and properly identify a street gang member.  An overview of how to conduct a gang investigation through the exploitation of confidential  informants\, sources of income and the targeting of hierarchy is explained in detail. DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED \nCPTED strategies are ideal for Law Enforcement Officers\, Architects\, City/Urban/Park Planners\, City Managers\, City Council Members\, Landscape Architects\, Security Consultants\, Educators or anyone involved in designing neighborhoods\, schools\, downtowns\, buildings\, or revitalization efforts. It is an effective way of fighting crime and promoting business. \nCities and Counties throughout the country are adopting CPTED ordinances requiring site plan reviews with crime prevention in mind. Law enforcement officers who are specially trained in CPTED are now working closely with Planners\, Architects\, City Officials\, and Educators to ensure the proper design of structures\, schools\, and neighborhoods. Participants will learn how the design and use of the environment can control human / criminal behavior and reduce the fear of crime. They will learn crime prevention through natural means. How natural access control and natural surveillance decrease the opportunity for crime. Participants will learn the different aspects of lighting and its effects on human behavior. Participants will work together on a site survey and provide a group presentation of their results utilizing CPTED strategies. DESCRIPTION:This training program is two full days and is designed to train police officers on how to safely and proficiently fly a drone within the National Airspace System. SUMMARY:Public Safety Drone Operations
DESCRIPTION:This training program is two full days and is designed to train police officers on how to safely and proficiently fly a drone within the National Airspace System.  The first day of training consists of classroom instruction which will include topics such as airspace\, weather considerations\, rules & regulations\, accident reporting\, insurance considerations\, airport/airfield operations\, emergency procedures\, preflight and maintenance\, loading/performance and crew resource management. \nThe second day of training will entail hands-on applications which will consist of basic flight maneuvers\, emergency procedures\, precision flying drills\, advanced maneuvers\, and search patterns.  Students will be required to show flight proficiency to successfully complete this course. \nThis course will not certify the student as an FAA Remote Pilot and this is not a FAA written test prep course.   \nClass size is limited to 6 students and training can be done using our fleet of drones. SUMMARY:TSA Explosives and Explosives Effects (E&EE) (TSA)
DESCRIPTION:The objective of this one day Explosives & Explosive Effects (E&EE) Training Course is to provide members of the federal\, state\, and local security\, and first responder communities the opportunity to receive training and information in regard to understanding explosives\, and explosive devices. The course will also cover topics to include terrorist trends\, improvised explosives device (IED) componentry\, construction and employment tradecraft\, as well as best practice safety information in regard to explosives and explosive devices. \nThe instruction is delivered in both classroom and outdoor range settings. Following an informative classroom briefing session\, attendees are given the opportunity to attend a Live Fire Explosives Demolition Range demonstration. The instructor led Explosives Demolition Range Demonstration session furthers the course objectives by exposing the students to a variety of commercial\, military and improvised explosives and mimic historical explosives devices. The demonstration allows the students to see firsthand key identification features of explosives as well as the destructive effects of explosives and explosive devices.
