SUMMARY:Shooting Incident Reconstruction
DESCRIPTION:This 3-day class\, hosted by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit\, will provide the crime scene investigator/detective with practical working knowledge of shooting scene reconstruction. \nTopics to be covered: \nIntroduction to Forensic Ballistics (Forensic Firearms ID) \nShooting Scene Reconstruction \nAutomobiles \nVarious structures \nRicochet and Deflection \nDetermining directionality of a projectile strike \nChemical testing of bullet impacts \nDetermining the horizontal and vertical impact angles \nForensic aspects of projectiles (Terminal ballistics) \nGlass types and possible shot sequencing \nCartridge case ejection pattern testing \nGunshot residues analysis and distance determination \nStrings\, rods\, lasers and methodologies used to document shooting scenes \nInstructors:\nHeather Dover is AFTE certified in “Firearms Evidence Examination and Identification” and “Gunshot Residue Evidence Examination and Identification.”  Heather attended and graduated from the ATF’s National Firearm Examiners Academy in 2008 and was invited back to teach at the academy this past April. \nStephen Deady is a retired NJSP Det. Sqt. in his 32nd year as a Firearms and Toolmark Examiner.  AFTE certified in “Firearms Evidence Examination and Identification”\, “Gunshot Residue Evidence Examination and Identification” and Toolmark Evidence Examination and Identification.”  Stephen has responded to shooting scenes with several police agencies.
